Il mio viaggio alle Bermuda per l’America’s Cup
Qualche settimana fa sono stato ospite della 35esima edizione dell’America’s Cup grazie a Land Rover BAR, yacht club britannico capitanato da Ben Ainslie, ovvero il velista più vincente della storia.
Nel 2017 è stato scelto come casa della Louis Vuitton America’s Cup l’arcipelago delle Bermuda. Un luogo magico, nel bel mezzo dell’Oceano Atlantico, rinomato per le sue acque cristalline e per le spiagge di sabbia rosa. Dall’alto le sue otto isole principali, tutte collegati da ponti, sembrano formare un amo. Che fortuna essere stato invitato all’evento proprio quest’anno!
Il mio viaggio alle Bermuda è durato tre giorni. I primi due sono stati dedicati alla scoperta dell’isola, della sua capitale Hamilton e delle sue spiagge più belle, a bordo ovviamente di un’automobile Land Rover. Da Warwick Long Bay, la spiaggia più lunga dell’isola e completamente immersa nell’omonimo parco naturale, abbiamo proseguito lungo le coste di Southampton fino a raggiungere la punta dell’amo, Cambridge Beaches, dove si trovava il magnifico Resort in cui abbiamo soggiornato.
Il terzo giorno era la giornata delle Coppa America e Land Rover BAR aveva organizzato per l’occasione una esclusiva experience per tutti i suoi gli ospiti a bordo di uno yacht privato. Così abbiamo potuto seguire le regate direttamente dall’oceano! Il vento è stato sempre abbastanza intenso, per cui al termine della competizione sono stato felice di tornare sulla terraferma e godermi un drink all’interno dell’America’s Cup Village. Che esperienza davvero indimenticabile…

A few weeks ago I was invited at the 35th America’s Cup thanks to Land Rover BAR, a British yacht club captained by Ben Ainslie, the most successful sailor in the entire history.
In 2017 the Bermuda archipelago has been chosen as the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup home. A magical place in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, renowned for its crystal clear waters and pink sandy beaches. From above, its eight main islands, all connected by bridges, seem to form a hook. How lucky I was to have been invited to the event this year!
I ‘ve been in Bermuda for three days. The first two were dedicated to discover the island, its capital Hamilton and its most beautiful beaches, aboard of course a Land Rover car. From Warwick Long Bay, the longest beach on the island, completely immersed in the homonymous natural park, we drove along the coasts of Southampton until we reached the tip of the hook, Cambridge Beaches, where it was the magnificent Resort where we stayed.
The third day was the day of the America’s Cup and Land Rover BAR had arranged for the occasion an exclusive experience for all its guests on a private yacht: we could follow the races directly from the ocean! The wind was intense enough all the time, so at the end of the competition I was happy to return to the mainland and enjoy a drink inside the America’s Cup Village. What an unforgettable experience…
