Cosa vedere a Capri, Ischia e Procida

Cosa vedere a Capri?

Here I am back from summer holidays, which I spent partly here in my beautiful Italy, partly abroad, between Georgia and Armenia. The very first trip this summer took place in July: a four-day tour aboard the beautiful boat named Sunsail Cyclades 50.4, organized by Insolita Italia to discover the three beautiful islands of the Gulf of Naples. Fifty-two nautical miles sailing along with other bloggers and Instagramers (Nunzia Cillo, Alessia Russo, Giada Pappalardo and Laura Masi) have given us unique and unusual perspectives.

First stop: Procida. A real pearl of the Mediterranean, with its village of small houses painted in pastel colors, its narrow streets full of life and the scent of lemon trees. Do not miss the ice creams at Chiaro di Luna where you can enjoy a delicious basil-flavored ice cream!

Second stop: Ischia. Once docked at Porto Casamicciola, we went down to discovery of the picturesque village of Sant’Angelo d’Ischia, set in the mountain that slopes towards the sea. We then headed to visit the Archaeological Museum of Pithecusae, which houses a selection of artifacts from ancient Greek and Roman times. An island, Ischia, which offers not only tourism, but also history and culture. We finally delighted ourselves with the thermal path of the resort La Romantica, where we were stayed until sunset. For dinner I recommend you to stop and taste the delicious pizza at pizzeria Il Limoneto… Ischia is certainly the largest island in the Gulf of Naples and the one that offers more attractions, all to be discovered!

Third stop: Capri. An island whose beauty fascinates its visitors from millennia. What to see in Capri? Surely the first thing to do is a boat tour, which is the privileged point of view to enjoy its natural wonders and to discover closely the majestic Faraglioni, the symbol of the island. At this point, after you have armed yourself with the most comfortable pair of shoes you own, you can discover the island. Unmissable Anacapri, which is the highest part of the island, where you can admire the colors of the tiles on the floor of the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, as well as lush vegetation and many varieties of flowers. In the evening do not miss a walk through the historic center and the famous Piazzetta (the square)!

Being Neapolitan, it was a pleasure for me to be invited to be part of this tour, created to highlight the beauty of my land. Thank you very much Insolita Italia! Check out the photos and I’ll see you soon!

Amsterdam Travel Guide with Eastpak

If you followed me on Instagram (find me as @robertoderosa) you’d know that last week I went to Amsterdam. It was a special weekend, despite the climate surprised me with a quite strong wind and occasional rain, but it doesn’t matter. I visited the city following the Eastpak Travel Guide. I absolutely recommend it to discover beautiful corners around the city. The place I liked the most was Le Cafe de Jaren, a restaurant & bar with a very special distinctive terrace, overlooking the canals. The view was very impressive and also the cup of mint tea was awesome, it warmed me up between one stop and another. My traveling companion has been my Eastpak backpack, filled with the bare necessities, such as the umbrella, my camera and some extra batteries… Compared to the backpack I used to wear in highschool – do you remember classic backpacks with logo? So 90’s babe! – the brand has expanded its catalogue with new models, including the one that you see me wearing in the pictures below. I have been owning it for a while now, you have already seen it in an old post (which you can find by clicking here) and it has become a must during my latest walking trips.

Here are the photos taken during my weekend in Amsterdam with Eastpak… See you soon later with a new post!

Beijing Diary

First post of my Beijing Diary! During my last trip to China I finally managed to see the capital city. Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to visit it.

48 hours in Beijing was enough to make me fall in love with the city. I decided to book a hotel in the very city centre, ’cause I didn’t want to waste time sitting in traffic. The Raffle Hotel, via TheLuxeNomad.com, is located only a few minutes away from the main attractions. On the first day, after a quick look at the recent Egg Building (the egg-shaped building that houses the Beijing Opera), I visited the gigantic Tiananmen Square. First of all I went North, inside the Forbidden City (the former home of the Emperor). This consist in the largest palace complex in the world, perfectly preserved. I can’t explain how impressive is being in a city at the same time conservative and forward-looking. Outside the walls of the Forbidden City, there are a series of alleys, the Hutong, which form another historic district of the city, where the ancient inhabitants of Beijing used to live. Then, after a deserved lunch break, I walked to the South area of Tiananmen Square, where is located the Temple of Heaven (a complex of religious building which used to host annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven, the main divinity of the traditional Chinese religion). As I was returning to the hotel, the sun set in Tiananmen Square and I had the chance to see the shift change in the guard. After a quick shower I headed to Sanlitun, to have dinner with some friends and eat some traditional Chinese dishes… I spent the rest of the night drinking a cocktail in one of the rooftop bars of the neighborhood.

Shanghai Yu Garden

If you read my last post (in case you didn’t, you can read it here), you’d know that last week I was on business trip in China. I spent a couple of days in Shanghai and this time I could visit a bit more of the city and of its best places.

Yu Garden is simply enchanted. I was walking through the streets of the Old City when I came across this unexpected green area. I’ts full of pagodas, rocks, bridges on artificial lakes where hundreds of goldfish and carps are swimming in. Ancient plants grow next to walls decorated by flowers. The chirping of cicadas is the typical background music. Visit Yu Garden made me feel so calm and blessed, that it seemed to me to be a thousand miles away from the hustle and the bustle of Shanghai. Just before going to this beautiful garden, I shooted a campaign for Forever21. You will find the pics online soon. And maybe, my dear Chinese friends, I’ll surprise you, coming back to you soon for a special event in partnership with the brand! Fingers crossed…

In the photos below you see me wearing a very relaxed outfit. I put on a simple white T-shirt and my new pair of grey printed pants, that I found perfect for the occasion. Of course I added a travel-friendly shoes, my new grey and white Nike’s. Last but not least, I dusted off the closet a cult of my youth, the oversized denim jacket!

See you soon with some new post from Beijing!
